Have you ever felt consumed by food?

I’ve gone from one extreme to the other to finding a happy medium that generates a balanced lifestyle.

When I was five years old my little brother was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. As you can imagine my parents world was turned upside down with the stress of figuring out how to manage their four year old’s blood sugar levels. As the years went by my mom would do her best to keep the sweets and other foods that would spike Chris’ levels up out of the house. My dad was often on the road for work. As a kid I would love it when he would come home because usually that meant that the cabinet above our microwave would get replenished with Little Debbies! Holy, oatmeal cream pies! Not only did the cabinet get refilled with all these goodies but when my mother wasn’t looking I remember eating full boxes with my dad. I guess it was a little bit of a bonding thing as I loved binging on the “forbidden” items as much as he did and because of my naturally high metabolism I don’t think my dad ever thought it was a big deal for me to eat as much as I wanted. Unintentionally a habit of binging on sweets was developed that I took with me into my adulthood.

As a teen I use to think thank goodness it was my brother who had diabetes and not me because I loved sweets too much and could never live without them! But as an adult I often felt consumed but food and unable to control my portions when it came to anything sugar loaded. With obesity and diabetes scattered throughout my family history and a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in myself with a secondary issue of infertility due to the PCOS I know that my health is important and what I put into my body is a large indicator for it. My first accountability group was my first real attempt at really eating well and balanced. It was great! I got the results I was looking for, had energy, confidence, I felt so good! But 6 months or so into my journey I found my OCD “all or nothing” personality taking over. I recall crying in my kitchen because I had made the decision that my family needed to jump on board and we were ONLY going to eat clean, whole foods! Good bye all the junk and convenience foods. I hadn’t had a chance to get to the store to pick up our weekly produce and I seriously stood next my pantry staring some cereal and thinking “I have nothing GOOD to feed my kids!” I truly was drying myself crazy with thinking that our nutrition had to be all or nothing and I was struggling because of it—plus, I was driving those I loved crazy!

You can Change your habits and have balance!

I knew I couldn’t keep going with my natural behavior of it has to either be one way or the other when it came to my nutrition habits and my family’s. I wanted us to be healthy but I refused to live in extremes and not show my kids that they can be healthy and still enjoy the balance of good food and indulgences. I truly think this is the goal for so many families but the effort can get exhausting without some guidance and it is easy to either go to the extreme or just give up completely.

Tips for picking your kit + your mentorship—

Whoa, you made this far…are you feeling overwhelmed? I know, it seems like there is just so much and so many options!! So let’s break it down! Most of us (myself included) check out the prices and go for the lowest because…well, it is hard to invest in ourselves!! So here are a few key questions to help you decide the route to go—

  1. Are you one that likes to figure it all out on your own or do you like to have some guidance? I totally get independent “I got this” mentalities, so if you feel confident in working through this on your own stick with the FREE mentorship and know you can always upgrade if you need to. But if you want to have someone who has been through and continuing to work on themselves with this program to help guide you through any bumps you may have consider doing Pack 2 or 3 for at least your first month of changing the way you think about nourishing your body with 2B Mindset.

  2. Do you feel like you need to like you have tried so many things in the past and you stick with it or a few days or maybe even a full week, and then life comes up and whatever habit you were trying to build falls off your plate of priorities? If so, then I would suggest going with a mentorship that involves weekly progress/tracker analysis and feedback! The weekly knowledge of needing to own this program because someone is going to go over your work with you (providing positive feedback of course!!) to help you allow the way may be just what the doc ordered to help you stick with it.

  3. When it comes to your digestion, do you feel like you are regular? I know personal question! The nurse in me has a hard time differentiating between personal and health history questions (btw-that really is a health history question and a REALLY IMPORTANT one too!). Also, when you become a mom it is amazing how obsessed you because with a little persons bowel movements. Right?! But I digress.
